Happy Halloween

by Meredith

What a great weekend. I celebrated as Wonder Woman all weekend long and carved pumpkins yesterday.  I hope you did something fun too and got creative in whatever way you love, decorating your home, carving pumpkins or becoming someone (or something) new.

Becoming Wonder Woman

by Meredith

Last night I finished gathering the last few items I needed for this weekend's spooky extravaganza.  This Halloween I'm going as warrior princess Wonder Woman! I know, I know... she's not a blonde, but she is still pretty kick a$$.  Now, I'm reviewing her pictures, 70's TV Show (starring Lynda Carter,) and history in order to truly become her.  More to come!

Decorating for Halloween

by Meredith

This weekend I geared up for Halloween by decorating my home with fall colors and buying pumpkins.  I'm excited to carve them this weekend and have been searching for new designs.  Be sure to watch for them later this week.

{Use multicolored decorative dried corn}
{I like using fall centerpieces to decorate table tops, then you can keep it up all season long}
{Lit decorations are my favorite - this Jack-o-lantern was made for me by my grandmother}
{I've kept some of my favorite childhood keepsakes for decorations: my McDonald's dress up
chicken nugget toys, trolls and a couple of Beanie Babies}

{I like to hang fall colored garland from the doorways}
{I think placing characters in a straight line on the piano looks nice}
{Often I find myself placing decorations in the corners of rooms}
{The back of my doorway}
{I like to find items at craft fairs instead of my staple Target store}
{These guys are cute when lit up by a candle}
{Halloween 'treat' from my grandmother}
{I love decorating with scarecrows}
{The fall wreath on my front door}

Stillwater

by Meredith

Earlier this month we went to Pine Tree Orchard in White Bear Lake and drove to Stillwater (one of my favorite places in Minnesota) to enjoy the beautiful Minnesota Fall weather we've been having. It's a town that borders Wisconsin and the St. Croix River known for it's great antique shops, local boutiques, restaurants and great scenery. We lucked out that the Fall Colors Fine Arts and Jazz Festival was going on too. We checked out the day's events, walked the river and main street, grabbed dinner at The Freight House and ended our day at Nelson's Ice Cream (best ice cream parlor ever.)

25 Ways to Tie a Scarf

by Meredith

When it's cold I want to wear a scarf daily, but I don't want to look the same every day!  Thanks to Wendy, of Wendy's Lookbook, who created a video tutorial of 25 different ways to tie a scarf in only 4.5 minutes I won't!  I love this fabulous creation.

A Brand New Start

Welcome to the new Bright Bold Blonde blog!  Even though it's arrival means summer has come to an end, fall has always been one of my favorite Minnesota seasons.  The colors, the crisp smell of leaves and the cooler breeze; it's gorgeous.  As Albert Camus said, "Autumn is a second spring when every leave is a flower."  Since I'll be spending more of my time inside, I thought it would be a good time to revamp my blog and this time center it around things I love.

Under Construction

This month the Bright Bold Blonde Blog celebrates it's second birthday!  Just like any growing youngster changes with age, my blog is going to be revamped and get a makeover.  I'm still going to cover news, trends, PR topics and entertainment, but hope to add a little more personality and flair to my page by adding more personal experiences and style.  Please keep tuning in and see what happens next!  I'm so excited!

Blackberry Needs to Catch Up

The creators of the handheld computing phone system, Blackberry, are having a rough week.  The Blackberry blackout started in Europe and spread across the globe and hit the US yesterday.  Now, millions are frustrated by the massive email outage.  What started as a computer problem is now even bigger and it's affecting their brand because the company messaging has been so poor.

Blackberry's Statement:
"We are doing everything in our power to restore regular service everywhere and to restore your trust in us."

There is an issue with this because they claim to they know their consumers have lost trust in them.  Further, there is no answer to the problem in this statement: what when wrong, why and how much longer it will last?

In a world where the iPhone is growing in popularity, they need to catch up and do something to stay in the market with Apple and Android.

Interesting Partnership in the World of Journalism: ABC News and Yahoo News Announce Deal to Share Content

Today, ABC News and Yahoo News announced their partnership.  They said that they are excited and believe this is the way the world of journalism is moving, online.

The days of the newspaper and print magazines may be moving out the door, but at least the news will continue on.  Yahoo News (which has more unique visitors than any other news Website is partnerhing with ABC News to share stories and feature Web video series.

Each website will have editorial independence, but the news organizations will share content, co-product coverage of come news events and have "integrated bureaus" in New York, Washington and Los Angeles, according to a news release.

Both brands are going to really benefit and help one another.  Yahoo will gain the celebrity connection to Katie Couric and Diane Sawyer - while ABC News will gain a greater online platform for information and web video.

Besides sharing news information, Yahoo will create original Web video for ABC.  At first, ABC will produce three scheduled online shows for Yahoo.  The first series, "Newsmakers," will pair guests with anchors like Mr. Stephanopoulos.  The others are called "Around The World with Christiane Amanpour" and " This Could Be Big," a technology-focused series by Ill Weir, a co-anchor of "Nightline."  Yahoo will also run a new Website for "G.M.A.," called GoodMorningAmerica.com, although ABC will edit the site.

Yahoo News site is already No. 1 on its own, with 81.2 million unique visitors in August, according to measurement firm ComScore.  ABC News site drew 24.4 million unique visitors in August.  Together, the companies project that they can reach 100 million visitors a month.
