Saturday, March 20th was Equal Pay Day, signifying how many days into the year it takes for the average woman to catch up in pay to her male counterparts.In Minnesota, women earn about 72 cents for every $1 earned by men. This discrepancy not only hurts Minnesota families, but also changes the dynamics of the workforce. Equal pay between genders could help both men an women contribute to a stronger economy.
I urge everyone involved to work toward eliminating the pay gaps that are still present in many Minnesota companies. The state could become a leader in equalizing pay standards by meeting this goal.
